Over the weekend of Sat 14th and Sun 15th September the Hashers will be running the 40 miles from their H.Q. and spiritual home, The Amazon & Tiger pub in Harvel, along the Pilgrims' Way, to Canterbury Cathedral.
This will be the third time that we have run this event and our aim is to have a lot of laughs along the way, a few(?) beers at the end of the run and raise funds for the Kent Wildlife Trust as we go. Harvel is a small village in an area of outstanding natural beauty up on the North Downs and our members appreciate greatly our our lovely surroundings as well as the stunning scenery en route hence our choice of charity.
We would like to raise £2000 for this fantastic charity. Donations can be made during the run or at the link here
Sat. 14th Sept. 10.45am meet at the Ammy ready for the start at 11.00. Bring a kitbag containing whatever you need to get through the day (change of socks, running top or whatever, towels, energy drinks/gels etc.) and load it aboard a support vehicle. Most importantly, don't forget your beer money. We should be at the first staging post, the Windmill, Burham, for about noon ie opening time so those who would like to stop there can do so and those running on can refresh in the loos before continuing. Allowing 4 hours or so to cover the first day we should be in Harrietsham for mid afternoon and a welcome pint and chips.
Sunday 15th. Meet at Ammy in time to leave by 10.00am in order to be ready to start from Harrietsham for 10.30. Two, possibly three of our members are planning to do the whole thing in one day and will aim to arrive at the Dirty Habit at the same time as the rest of us on Sunday. Again, don't forget your kitbag/survival pack. Allowing a rate of progress of 15mins/mile (including stops) we should stagger into Canterbury, and the Old Buttermarket, at about 4.30.
Wolvie has (very kindly and cleverly) plotted the route on Mapmyrun and has downloaded it on social media so that it is available for all to download onto their Garmins - he will advise you of the details separately.
Below is appended an updated list of runners and riders and, as before, please let Doggy know urgently if you need to be included or are dropping out
Also there is a list of support volunteers and it would be most helpful if, sooner rather that later, they can;
1. confirm their availability for one/both days.
2. " how many people they can transport
3. let Doggy know what size tee shirt they fit into as we have been offered some by Kent Wildlife Trust - flying the flag should help to get the collection buckets filling up.
Attending/ running/ supporting/ driving
Hoping that includes everything but if you have any queries, please get back to Doggy a.s.a.p.
